Connect-OC Coalition Meeting: Empowering Veteran Mental Health through Peer & Mentor Engagement

This month in honor of Veteran's Day, the meeting seeks to recognize, honor, and highlight free mental health resources available for young veterans in OC. Our panelists were:

  • Tom Boscamp Veteran Services Coordinator from Coastline Community College
  • Juan Garcia - Peer Support Program Coordinator, U.S. Vets; U.S. Army Veteran
  • Dana Grethen, Director of Behavioral Health U.S.VETS Los Angeles and Orange County.

This discussion sheds light on the difficulties faced by young veterans as they re-integrate into American culture and a vastly different place in their lives in which they are trying to work through their PTSD, excelling at in their College Classes, living full time again with their families and partners, and feeling overwhelmed by a life that is dictated by them and not for them.
